History + Legal guidance + Media

m-Tronix is the sole authorised supplier and developer of all Bramco-originated control and protection technologies. And latest m-Tronix advanced solutions.

For more than forty years, this intellectual property has been owned by the Leishman family — founded by Gil and Trish Leishman and now led by Mark Leishman. Since 2022, m-tronix has been tasked with designing, manufacturing, distributing, and supporting all products bearing or derived from the Bramco name. All genuine Bramco-labelled or m-tronix-produced equipment, updates and warranties are issued exclusively by m-tronix. Today’s m-tronix engineering team includes several of the original designers and technical specialists who have maintained and advanced the technology across multiple generations, ensuring authenticity, continuity and reliability.

Factual Background and Timeline
2012 – 2015: Control of financial and commercial arrangements for the former Bramco entities was transferred to external advisers and accountants. These arrangements were not under the control of the Leishman family.
2015: The manager of those external advisers became the subject of criminal investigations for client-related fraud, culminating in convictions and imprisonment. These matters were dealt with by the courts and prosecuting authorities and were entirely independent of m-tronix, its shareholders, directors and management.

2015 – 2020: Legal services to pursue recovery for that misconduct were provided by Gardner Ekes Lawyers.
In 2020, the Law Society of New South Wales appointed a manager to Gardner Ekes Lawyers under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW) to oversee the firm’s affairs, from concerns with how Gardner Ekes conducted client affairs, as recorded in official regulatory notices.

2016 – 2022: A separate distribution company, trading as Bramco International, was established under legal advice from Gardner Ekes Lawyers while that firm acted as solicitor's for the Leishman interests.
In light of the regulatory and governance concerns referenced above, Gil Leishman ultimately advised Bramco International they had no authority to represent, supply or service Bramco intellectual property from early 2022.

The unauthorised promotion and distribution activity has continued.

m-tronix completely and unequivocally regrets any confusion caused and confirms that all genuine Bramco-labelled and m-tronix products, service and technical support are available only through m-tronix Pty Ltd.
This situation has also involved the retention of critical plant and specialised, hand-made scientific equipment by Bramco International, belonging to Gil Leishman and his family. Much of which was hand designed and built by Gil Leishman and family.

MEDIA RECORD CLARIFICATION
During 2013 – 2014, several articles published by the Newcastle Herald contained material inaccuracies regarding the former Bramco entities and members of the Leishman family.

Those reports were totally inconsistent with later verified findings, including criminal proceedings identifying the true sources of misconduct as external advisers entirely independent of the Leishman family or m-tronix.
There are other publications that have accurately captured events, such as those in the Sydney Morning Herald. Formal requests have been submitted to the publisher seeking correction or removal of those inaccurate reports.

We ask you to rely on verified information contained in official court records, regulatory notices and the documentation provided here.

Examples of valid/correct publications include:
1. Sydney Morning Herald, Journalist Kate McClymont (Chief Investigative Reporter) “How a fake accountant stole millions of dollars to fund his extravagant lifestyle” published Dec 2025.

2. Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, Kate McClymont, Youtube podcast "on the fake accountant, the solicitor, and the stolen millions" ec 2025. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IYfonJVkm0

Summary
m-tronix, its shareholder, director and personnel were not responsible for the financial management or external advisory arrangements described above. They deeply regret this period from several years ago and the effect it had on customers, partners and the Leishman family itself. As a result of the conduct and impact of the external advisers, Gil Leishman and Mark and Kathleen Leishman suffered the loss of their homes and substantial personal and business assets.

m-tronix operates under its own governance, quality and compliance systems and is the sole authorised source of genuine Bramco-derived products, service and technical support.
The company’s compliance and financial governance are independently overseen by PKF Accountants and Advisors.

Supporting information is available on request and can be verified through publicly accessible court records, official regulatory notices and contemporary media reporting.

Lastly, we wish to thank the close friends and industry supporters that have stood with m-tronix over these years and who have generously helped our launch and the new products now being released.

The Leishman family (Gil and Trish) commences the development of electronic control systems for mining and general industry, in Bowral NSW. This development is based on an extensive working history in underground coal mining, then engineering and general management of major design/supply houses to Australia’s Mining industry, including Vale Engineering, Kembla Coke, and Coal and Cable Makers Australia (MM Mining).

The family, headed by Gil and Trish Leishman acquires the Bramco range of advanced mining control products, based in Newcastle NSW. Dating back to the late 1940s, this range covers Battery Earth Leakage control, Conveyor Belt Slip Control, the Conveyor Electronic Speed Switch, Sequence Unit, and other mining-focused technologies.

They then bring together a dedicated team of experienced engineers and technicians to produce innovative, multiple first-to-market solutions, that were historically/previously distributed worldwide through various companies including:

  • Bramco Electronics (1984-2012)
  • Emis Sales South Africa (1988-2005)
  • Bramco South Africa (1999-2009)
  • iPower Solutions (previous)
  • Hedweld (2005-2011)
  • Joy Mining (1998-2010)
  • Bramco International (2016-2022)

The launch of the iM1 range of individual electronic control relays. Labeled predominantly as Bramco, they individually cover various functions including Earth Leakage, Earth Continuity, Overload, Short circuit, Earth Leakage Lockout and Loss of Vacuum amongst others.

Release of the hugely innovative, mining motor control and protection system, known as CPM1. CPM1 combines an unending combination of individual electronic control functions into one module. This is the start of the CPM1 legacy, continuously updated and developed for over 30 years. Many hundreds of variants of the CPM are engaged around the world and carry necessary approvals for use in hazardous environments.

Launch of the new individual relay range. Replacing the IM1 series, the i-Series carries approvals for use in hazardous environments amongst others. Incredibly compact and meeting the latest industry local and international design/operating standards, they cover Earth Leakage (iab), Earth Continuity (iC), Overload (iK), Pilot Control (iD), iF Frozen Contactor, iG Earth Leak Lockout amongst others.

Release of a totally new, control, monitoring, and protection package for conveyor systems. With many industry firsts, this range includes conveyor stop, start, sequencing, pre-start warning control, and emergency stop via remote control trip switches amongst many other features. Known as ICMS this range is currently installed in systems covering (often) fifty klms of conveyor structures in many countries worldwide.

A new generation of CPM is added. With powerful and advanced micro-processor control and functionality, the CPM1micro is sold as Emis Sales in South Africa also, and secures widescale acceptance over the next years with Sasol Mining, in addition to expanding its market base in Australia and the U.S.

The launch of a range of micro-processor controlled individual relays, following on from the CPM1micro, including the new fascia mounted ed ELF (Earth Leakage) and SCOLm (Short Circuit Overload) and Twister (Fan control).

A heavily updated ICMS is released. Now providing more advanced, stop, and start control and monitoring for conveyors over 40klms from one control unit, including side sequence control for small, adjoining conveyors. Also covered is dust suppression, and pump control and monitoring.

The new range of BK400 Emergency Safety Pullkeys are released. Offering extremely robust, corrosion-resistant components, these are designed to be spaced at 200m along a conveyor system, which is the widest spanning available worldwide.

Development of active temperature compensation system for mining conveyors. Essentially, this is a hydraulically controlled process, that accommodates movement in cables running along conveyors, meaning as cables contract in extreme cold and expand during extreme heat, these cable and the operation of the safety system is not impacted (eradicating nuisance tripping).

To meet the latest design standards, predominantly AS/NZS2081:2011 and related IEC demands, and using the fundamentals developed since the early 1980s, the new b3 range is announced. Again, core protection functions cover EL, EC, OL, SC, ELL, FC etc. Now utilizing advanced (latest) microprocessor technologies, these are offered in Australia, and other key markets including Indonesia, Turkey and the US, and marketed/identified as Bramco South Africa and Intermountain Electronics, amongst others.

Building on more than forty years of continuous research, development and field experience, m-tronix enters 2026 with an expanded capability across electrical protection, control and monitoring systems. The company now offers both the legacy Bramco product range, maintained to original design standards, and an exciting new generation of fully compliant, high-performance solutions that reflect today’s safety and technology expectations.

These innovations strengthen m-tronix’s position as the lawful custodian and authorised developer of Bramco-originated technologies, continuing the Leishman family’s enduring commitment to reliability, quality and Australian engineering excellence. The latest releases—spanning motor control, protection and conveyor monitoring systems—demonstrate the company’s ongoing role at the forefront of industrial electronics for mining and general industry worldwide.
